Rhyming words
Rhyming words are words that end with the same sound, like 'cat' and 'hat'!
Have you ever heard a song or a poem that sounded bouncy and musical? A lot of that magic comes from rhyming words! Rhyming words are words that end with the same sound. They don't have to look exactly the same β they just need to sound the same at the end. It's like the words are best friends who share a secret sound!
Here is our first example: "cat" and "hat". Say them out loud β catβ¦ hat. Do you hear how they both end with that "-at" sound? That's a rhyme! You could even make a silly sentence: "The cat wore a hat!" Fun, right?
Here is our second example: "moon" and "spoon". Say them slowly β moonβ¦ spoon. They both end with that "-oon" sound. You might hear this in a nursery rhyme: "The cow jumped over the moon with a spoon!" When words rhyme, they make our ears happy and our stories feel like songs.
π Your turn to think: Can you look around the room and find something β maybe a book, a cup, or a toy β and try to think of a word that rhymes with it? What did you find?
