Being a kind friend
A kind friend makes others feel happy, safe, and cared for.
Have you ever had someone smile at you, share their snack, or say something nice when you felt sad? That person was being a kind friend! Being a kind friend means doing and saying things that make the people around you feel good, safe, and important. Kindness is like a warm hug โ it feels wonderful for both the person giving it and the person receiving it.
Here is a first example: Imagine your classmate, Mia, drops all her crayons on the floor. A kind friend would stop, kneel down, and help her pick them up. That small action tells Mia, "I care about you and I am here to help."
Here is a second example: Your friend Leo did not get picked for the school play and he looks very sad. A kind friend would walk over, sit beside him, and say, "I am sorry you are sad. You are still really great, and I am glad you are my friend." Those words help Leo feel less alone.
Kindness does not have to be a big, fancy thing. A smile, a gentle word, or a helping hand can make someone's whole day brighter. ๐ Here is something to think about: Can you remember a time when someone was kind to you? How did it make you feel?
